Use Of Canoes, Bikes, Scooters During Your Stay
For your enjoyment, we provide canoes, various sizes of bikes, and scooters. We endeavor to maintain these so that they are safe to use, under the following conditions:
-
You are aware that canoeing and bicycling could be potentially hazardous. We assume no responsibility for any risks that you or your party expose yourselves to. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY.
For your information: US Coastguard Boating Safety
-
Adult supervision and common sense are required. For example there should be at least one adult in a canoe, and you should not let young children ride alone on the road.
-
We provide safety equipment, including a variety of sizes of life jackets and bike helmets. We require you to use them for your protection. We want you to be safe.
-
Please inspect the canoe, bike or scooter prior to use. If you have any concerns, please do not use it, and let us know so we can fix it.
-
For the bikes, there is a bicycle pump and a puncture repair kit. Please check that you have air in the tires.
-
You undertake to return the canoes, bikes or scooters in the same condition they were at the start of your stay, allowing for fair wear and tear etc. If there is something that needs to be repaired, please let us know so we can fix it.
-
The canoes can be dragged over the grass to the creek, but to take a canoe to the beach requires a trolley, which is provided, and can be found in the shed. Please lock up the canoes when you are finished using them.
-
Please exercise caution if you are paddling a canoe in the bay, the tide and currents could carry you out faster than you can paddle back. Make sure you have someone on the shore who can call for help if they see you are in trouble. In an emergency call 911.
The canoes are locked with a cable and padlock. The paddles, life jackets, bikes, helmets and scooters are locked in the shed behind the garage. Keys are attached to the piece of wood, left in the cabin, marked “Bike Shed Key”.
If you do not agree to the above conditions, do not use the canoes, bikes or scooters. If you do use the canoes, bikes or scooters, this constitutes acceptance of the above conditions.
If you have any concerns or questions regarding safety, please call us.
